CPF, Multiexport Foods GSSI's latest funding partners

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) of Thailand and Multiexport Foods of Chile have joined the GSSI Global Partnership as Funding Partners, it was announced. GSSI stands for Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative, a global public-private partnership working toward more sustainable seafood.

CPF is an agro-industrial and food conglomerate headquartered in Thailand. It operates a vertically integrated business in 16 countries and exports products from Thailand to over 30 countries.

"CPF is delighted to join the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative, the unique multi-stakeholder platform aiming to build confidence and promote improvement in certified seafood", said Dr. Sujint Thammasart, chief operating officer, Aquaculture Business.

"We look forward to collaborating with stakeholders in the seafood supply chain from across the globe to achieve more sustainable seafood for everyone."

Multiexport Foods is a Chile-based salmon producer and exporter. It is the second South American company to join the GSSI Partnership and four of its salmon farms are certified by GSSI-recognised scheme ASC.

"As a company, we have established sustainability and productive responsibility as an essential pillar of our business. Aligned with this purpose, joining the GSSI will allow us to increase efficiency in our certification framework in a visible and transparent way", said Jason R. Paine, general manager of Multiexport Foods Inc. USA.
