Market analysis

Hog market weakened further as supplies increased prominently while farmers were eager to release stocks before Chinese New Year. With pork carcass volumes expanding 1% to 9,872 tonnes, prices dropped substantially.

Hog prices were down by 2.4%, falling for the third consecutive week.

Market forecast

Hog market will be under pressure with supplies plentiful and slaughterhouses limiting purchases. Prices are seen lower in the days prior to the festive holidays.
