Global markets

CNF prices of Peruvian prime-grade fishmeal stayed at US$1,550/tonne.

Market analysis

Demand for fishmeal decreased over the week as feed producers gradually halted operation. Staying stable, port inventories of fishmeal totalled 167,000 tonnes.

Price quotes for Peruvian prime-grade products were unchanged in the range of RMB10,600-10,800/tonne.

Market forecast

China will be celebrating Chinese New Year in the coming week. Livestock and feed markets will be closed.

After the festive hiatus, fishmeal market is expected to remain soft as diminished animal inventories impede sales.
