Cheese prices rise as cold thrashes Midwest

 

Philadelphia, PA– The Midwest was beaten up this week by the Polar Vortex which also negatively impacted milk and cheese production, and moderately disrupted logistics. The most extreme report we heard was from a Wisconsin butter maker: -40 degrees one morning this week. We also heard comparisons like "Antarctica is warmer than Chicago" and "Minnesota is colder than Mars." But the cold front is just about over and temperatures will be back above freezing on Saturday.
