China Live Hog Weekly: Increased supply lowers prices (week ended Jan 25, 2018)

An eFeedLink Exclusive

Price summary

Prices moved lower.

Market analysis

China's climate improved, allowing farmers to release more hogs as transportation was smooth. Prices of hog weakened as result, lower by 0.81% on average. Pork carcass prices dropped 0.97% to RMB21.33/kg.

Market forecast

Slaughterhouses are prudent with purchases as the demand for pork is weaker compared with past years. Prices are likely to consolidate lower in the coming week. However, with supplies tight, sharp falls in prices are unlikely.
