FBA Issue 22: Sptember / October 2008

September 9-11
The 2008 World Oils & Oilseeds Convention

Singapore will once again host the World Oils & Oilseeds Convention (WOOC 2008). It will build on the success of 2007's conference, which was the country's first conference geared for the oils and oilseeds sector and was participated in by more than 250 delegates.

This year's convention, with the theme "Coming Together To Sow The Seeds of Success", is slated on September 9 - 11, 2008 at the Raffles City Convention Centre and seeks to gather higher participation not only from Asia but also from across the globe. WOOC 2008 aims to be the leading venue for the oils & oilseeds industry to study the trends and economics of the markets.

The convention will provide participants with key information on making the right decisions when buying or selling oils and oilseeds commodities. To ensure very fruitful information sharing, the conference will gather highly respected and knowledgeable experts from their respective fields to share insights.

Some of the topics to be covered will be "Food vs Energy Debate" and "Changing Market Trends in the Oils & Fats Sector."  Furthermore, organizers seek to provide a relaxing and enjoyable ambience for different companies to interact and build networks.

Singapore has been the chosen venue as it is the busiest port in the world with over 600 shipping lines sending super tankers, container ships and passenger liners to share the busy water with coastal fishing vessels and wooden lighters. Moreover, the city-state offers many dining, entertainment and cultural facilities within walking distance of the conference centre.
