MLBA Issue 8 : Investment in Asian meat processing: Changing the way we process and market our meat
Reconcepting MEAT & LIVESTOCK BUSINESS Asia
Due to rapid growth in global agribusiness output volume and technical sophistication, we find it necessary to expand the scope and breadth of our coverage.
From January 2011, MEAT & LIVESTOCK BUSINESS Asia and FEED Business Asia will merge and be renamed as FEED Business Worldwide. The magazine will be published 10 times a year.
With long-term growth in Asian meat demand looming, the global economic crisis redirected meat processing investment into cost-cutting technologies, value-added processing and distribution networks.

MARKET
Thailand's egg farmers are desperate to hear immediate answers as their chicken egg industry is hemorrhaging. Farmers had to voluntarily cut production by 10-15 percent to ease the huge oversupply burden, running to about 2-3 million more than the daily consumption of 25-26 million eggs.
Most countries in the region are making the big shift from smallholder pig-raising to modern, commercial hog-farming. Is this the beginning of the end for outsourced pork?
It may not be as vivacious as the hog and poultry industries but the cattle sector in the Philippines certainly deserves a certain amount of recognition as it tries to stay alive with its remaining resources and devoted group of cattle raisers.
SUPPLY CHAIN
Poultry production, considered one of the relatively less affected meat lines in these times of financial turmoil, still needs a lot of help from companies like E-CAT which provides precise hatchery automation systems to cut costs and sustain quality.

LIVESTOCK HEALTH
Modern poultry farming has transformed from a mere backyard rearing activity to a vibrant and dynamic industry over the past few decades and has resulted in the tremendous increase in the growth rate of poultry.
MEAT OPERATION
Too many times, consumers take things for granted about their food products. Meat inspection and grading are those activities related to meat products that are important in assuring the best product in the world for the consumer.
COLD CUTS
MEAT & LIVESTOCK Business Asia talked to Mr. Anwar Hashim, president of the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), as he gives insights on the adverse market factors affecting the Indian seafood trade right now and the future the industry looks on to.
Global Grain & Oilseed Markets
Evidence that USDA got its South American feed crop numbers wrong and large downward revisions are looming is growing. This carries greater implications for corn prices than it does for soy.
